WITHSTAND (4) missed the kick before stoking up late to finish fourth last start over this course and distance. Very fit after three runs back from a spell and if he sorts out the barrier manners a maiden win looks on the cards. HINUNE (5) is back from a five-month spell. Only raced once in the maiden prep and was beaten under three lengths over 1200m at Kembla. Finds an easier maiden to launch this prep so she is a genuine hope. THURSAIN (14) began awkwardly then recovered to finish fourth when resuming over 1100m at Scone recently. Wide gate a concern but the longer trip brings her right into the picture. SHOWRUNNER (1) on debut for Messara/Gavranich is one to monitor in betting following a nice trial win at Newcastle on 30 December. PLAY IT AGAIN (3) found the line well at Port Macquarie last time and is open to improvement at just her third start.
